Scoot To Africa

My name is Samuel Wightman; on the 29th May 2008 I will be 28 years old. It was at this young age that my mum, Anne Wightman, tragically lost her fight for life to stomach cancer on the 15th June 1988. She left behind her husband, and four young children, I, Alicia, Charlene and James who was only 11 months old at the time.

My mum was laid to rest and her parents James and Alice were only in their fifties, this is something no parent should ever have to go through.

There are many families who have found themselves in the same situation, losing any family member is difficult, but losing your mother at that age was devastating.

There are a countless number of people facing the same situation today that my Mum once found herself in, suffering from cancer. Being so young at the time and not fully understanding exactly what was going on with my mothers illness, it's now that I'm reaching the age of 28 and feel fit and healthy I realise she was so young and that there are lots of people in the world that are not as fortunate. With this in mind it is my aim to raise £100,000 for Cancer Research UK with the hope that maybe I will be a part of preventing others families going through what mine had to.

To do this, I have assembled a team of people that share my desire to do their bit and help fund finding a cure for cancer.

The main charity event will be “Scoot to Africa”, which will entail us travelling from Scotland to Morocco and back on scooters. This event will take place on the 2 June 2008 and should take approximately 20 days. We will also be holding a Charity Auction night and an Entertainment Night, more details to follow.

You can help me reach my target of £100,000 by clicking on the link below. Please donate whatever you can afford.
